Savannah Guides has a variety of membership categories:
Friend of Savannah Guides
Individuals or organisations wishing limited participation can join Savannah Guides through this associate category offering communication links, invitations and discounted School registration fees.
Savannah Guides are acknowledged as protectors and interpreters of Australia’s Tropical Savannahs, and are well respected in the tourism industry and regional communities of northern Australia. Guide training is a central function of the organisation, through Savannah Guides Schools, nationally recognised qualifications, informal learning and educational links. Employment opportunities with Savannah Guides enterprise are significant. The camaraderie and mutual support of peers, mentors and trainees is the heart of Savannah Guides. Individual membership levels are:
- Site Interpreter (guide at stationary enterprises)
- Roving Interpreter (guide with mobile operators)
- Savannah Guide (senior guide/supervisor)
- Special Member (non-guiding senior representative of enterprise)
Enterprise members become a link in the Savannah Guides network, and are endorsed as tour operations of a high standard. They are invited to participate in Savannah Guides Schools, corporate marketing opportunities and receive the support of like-minded businesses. There are important benefits in staff development, site management, corporate imagery, visitor referral, tour packaging, buying networks and industry networking. Progression from entry level to Station/Master enterprise involves a higher participation level in marketing activities, and a generally higher level of involvement in the organisation. Enterprise membership levels are:
- Savannah Guide Site (a stationary nature based tourist attraction)
- Savannah Guide Operator (a mobile tour company)
- Savannah Guide Station
- Savannah Guide Master Operator
Savannah Guides offers organisations a range of opportunities to support regional tourism development. Exposure to our members is available through “in-kind” or cash sponsorship at Savannah Guides Schools and our newsletter. Gold, Silver and Bronze partnerships may incorporate marketing, environmental projects or other activities.
